About Origine 34
As a winery, time gives us our greatest gifts. More experience, older vines, the opportunities to pause and listen, to pursue the singular expressions that will eventually become harmonious pieces of a whole. The 2021 vintage marks our 34th here in Oregon, and we are pleased to introduce the Origine cuvée – an acknowledgment of both our beginning and our present. It is very much an expression of our Dundee Hills estate while also presenting the kinds of nuances and subtleties that have defined Véronique’s work. The Origine cuvée is a limited release, available only through the winery.
The Winemaking
Our Dundee Hills estate Pinot Noir is organically grown and handpicked, then hand-sorted and de-stemmed in our four-level gravity flow winery. Fermentation is long and careful. Blending is a puzzle solved over time. In the case of Origine 34, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered after a 14-month élevage.
Véronique’s Notes
The nose of the 2021 Pinot Noir Origine 34 draws me in immediately. Perfumed and vibrant, with ripe cranberry, orange peel, and a trace of velvety rose petal. The mouthfeel is surprisingly juicy, with tart cherry, red gooseberry, and cassis flavors articulating some of what I find most beautiful with our estate lots. On the finish, I love the precise balance of minerality and graceful generosity – sure signs of how it will continue to develop and evolve for years to come.
