2022
The 2022 growing season began with great optimism. After a reasonable winter, bud break started in April, right on schedule. Then, an unprecedented arctic air mass swept in, bringing snowfall, below-freezing temperatures, and the first-ever frost to impact our vineyards. Subsequent cool and damp conditions over the next few months caused sluggish vine growth, putting us 2-4 weeks behind by June. Mercifully, Mother Nature bestowed abundant sunshine and higher-than-average temperatures on us as harvest approached, resulting in a gentle conclusion to the season and excellent fruit ripeness. While the Pinot Noir crop volumes were lower than usual, the quality of the fruit was exceptional – a compromise that we gladly accept!

2021
The 2021 vintage was absolutely worth the wait, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the charm and grace its wines present at every level. An arid and warm spring led to an even warmer, drier summer with notable heat spikes. Wonderfully, the vines remained healthy, and as temperatures cooled in mid-September, harvest was able to stretch out over three smooth weeks, ending in early October. After a dramatic growing season, the vines delivered grapes with complex flavors, incredible balance, and layers of elegance. As winemakers and grape growers, we couldn’t have asked for a better gift from the vineyard.

2020
The inside 2020 story is that the growing season was nearly ideal. The first three months of the year were relatively dry, budbreak took place in mid-April, light rain during flowering led to lovely small berries and clusters, and wide temperature swings resulted in a beautiful crop heading into harvest. For more than thirty years, we have been afforded many sublime vintages, often resulting from the unique challenges we see in Oregon. Our goal—always—is to produce exceptional wines from our vineyards. 2020 gave us the paradox of outstanding Chardonnays and delicious ros , but impossible estate Pinot Noir. In the end, what matters most is your trust in the quality of what we bottle under the Drouhin labels.

2019
In 2019 we saw a return to the classic, ever changing Oregon growing season. Winter started out relatively mild, but gradually became largely cold and wet. Spring was warmer but also wet, and despite some mild frosts in April, there were also warmer than average temperatures. Through the summer, there were fewer heat spikes, and then cooler skies for harvest. Our Rosé is the first expression of this vintage.

2018
Our exceptional run of vintages here in Oregon continues with 2018. The season started on a slightly wet and cool note leading to late bud break but caught up quickly. After dry weather and occasional heat spikes in July and August, the end of summer brought comfortable temperatures, a little rainfall, and the perfect set up for harvest.

2017
A cool winter, followed by a cool and wet spring, slowed the arrival of bud break. Summer temperatures were largely warm, but moderate weather arrived by late August, allowing fruit maturation to slow. By the middle of September temperatures were perfect. Over the course of nearly three weeks, we were able to harvest parcels at optimal ripeness. In the end 2017 gave us beautifully balanced fruit with delightful flavors and lovely length.

2016
2016 marks the third consecutive season of warm, dry and largely harmonious growing conditions. Spring came early, and the vineyards enjoyed the warmer and drier weather. This helped maintain small clusters and berries that could mature evenly between bloom and harvest. In fact, harvest began during the last days of August, but a cooler September allowed us to achieve an overall balance of flavor and layered complexity.

2015
If vintages have twins, one could say that 2014 and 2015 are nearly ‘jumeaux identiques’. The warm, long growing season brought us a second straight harvest of exceptional quality. We began picking on September 9, and the next three weeks brought us day after day of beautiful, ripe fruit. In 2015, we simply raised our glasses and said, ‘thank you’.

2014
We’re still in awe of the 2014 harvest, an intense, long, and very promising finish to what was an extraordinary year in the vineyards. We saw bud break in mid-April, a warmer than average spring led into an even, dry and often hot summer. Harvest began in mid-September under clear skies, which continued for a remarkable four straight weeks. Looking back, it seems like the perfect marriage of hard work and very good luck, two of a farmer’s best friends.

2013
The 2013 growing season was warm and relatively even. Picking began in mid-September under clear skies, and after a surprise burst of weather, optimal conditions returned for the last few days of picking. The result is an interesting marriage of cooler and warmer year characteristics, making 2013 a unique, balanced and exciting vintage in the Dundee Hills.

2012
2012 was an exciting growing season and we’re thrilled with how delicious the wines are. The signature for the year was the extended dry period leading up to harvest and the overall warmth of the season. In contrast to the cooler 2010 and 2011 vintages, 2012 delivered gorgeous, ripe fruit, with wonderfully intense flavors.

2011 will be remembered as Oregon’s latest growing season ever with a cool and wet September turning into a dry and moderately warm October. Harvest lasted into November, allowing for full maturity and excellent flavor development.

2010
2010 is a spectacular Oregon vintage, reaffirming the magic of Pinot Noir & Chardonnay grown in a cool climate. The harvest was the second latest on record at the time in the Dundee Hills, and though we wrung our hands until the last minute, we were rewarded with outstanding fruit.

2009
In the Dundee Hills, 2009 will be remembered as an exceptionally long growing season that ended in a relatively relaxed, even harvest. The accumulated heat throughout the season, in addition to a September heat spike, yielded wines with full fruit character – powerful, but balanced. Much like 2004 and 2006, these are wines that have an immediate charm but will age gracefully.

2008
2008 was simply an incredible vintage in Oregon. Though we could have wished for higher yields given the incredible quality, we are grateful for what we have. Overall, it was a long, relatively cool growing season, which allowed for full ripeness, strong acidity and lower alcohols.

2007
2007 will long be remembered for the lovely, graceful growing season that led up to a rather stressful harvest. Robert, Véronique and Philippe Drouhin literally spent three October weeks in a high-stakes chess match with the vineyards. In the end, a year’s worth of superb viticulture and a month of microscopic attention to detail allowed for a very successful vintage. It’s been easier before and since, but vignerons live for the challenge.

2006
The 2006 growing season was warm and mild, finishing in splendid fashion with a relaxed, two-week harvest window. Our goal is to pick the fruit when flavor and great complexity have been achieved, and 2006 was certainly successful in that regard.

2005
2005’s winter months were unusually dry and warm, which led to early bud break. A relatively cool, wet spring slowed the maturation process down, causing uneven flowering over an extended period and, ultimately, painfully low yields. But the vines enjoyed a lovely, moderate summer and an easy September, leading to excellent ripening and an ideal October harvest.
